Sneh Aurora is a senior advisor and education specialist with over 18 years of experience in the human rights and development sector, working with prominent international development agencies, including Amnesty International, Equitas, Education International and the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative in New Delhi. Her expertise includes developing strategy and policy, and designing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating human rights and education programs in many parts of the world, including conflict and post-conflict environments. She is particularly well skilled in ensuring inclusive and participatory processes in programme design, development and evaluation, engaging with stakeholders at various levels of technical sophistication. She has conducted rigorous research on women’s and children’s human rights and empowerment issues, including on prostitution of Afghan women in Pakistan, women’s economic empowerment programmes in the state of Gujurat, child labour in the carpet industry in India, focusing on microfinance schemes and women led small businesses and the right of education of women and girls in a submission to the CEDAW Committee. She recently led a project team in a global multi-stakeholder evaluation of a development education programme aimed to empower young people and their families to actively participate in decisions within schools, wider communities and nationally; this included evaluation design, development of data collection tools, synthesis and analysis of data evidencing impact on various levels – individual, school, family, wider community, and nationally (including in South Asia and Africa). Her work in education also includes awareness raising and capacity building to ensure implementation of international policy and standards. She was born, and has lived and worked for a number of years, in South Asia. .
